It seems that Autumn has – unaccustomed – announced itself in this part of the world. And these rooms with their details look Octobery – autumnly with a special identity
The striped fabric at the back define the October colours to me: warm, cozy. I love the layers of fabric on the bed. Note the Suzani, which appears to be a theme of the rooms that inspired me today. I love the simplicity of that chair-turned-side table and the pop of yellow painted door in the picture. I love the wooden floors and the sparse items in this room speak to me of a world traveler.
القماش المقلم في الخلف يحدد ألوان أكتوبر بالنسبة: دافئة، حميمة. أحب طبقات الأقمشة فوق الفراش و لاحظوا السوزاني – الذي يبدو أنه القاسم المشترك في الغرف التي ألهمتني اليوم. أحب بساطة الكرسي المتحول لطاولة جانبية و لا يفوتني طلة الباب الأصفر في الصورة. أحب الأرضيات الخشبيّة و العناصر المتفرقّة في الغرفة تحدثني عن رحالّة عالمي
Again the Suzani – now as a wall hanging and rich fabric cushions and bed runner that match and complement it. The grey bedspread and side tables may not be my favorite, but their neutrality brings to live the other elements in the room.
مرة أخرى السوزاني الآن معلق على الحائط مع الوسائد من الأقمشة الغنية و كذلك مفرش السرير و كلها تتماشى مع و تكمّل السوزاني. ربما لا أفضّل مفرش السرير و الطاولات الجانبية الرماديّة و لكن حيادها يبرز العناصر الأخرى في الغرفة
لقد أغرمت بألوان هذا السوزاني – الأزرق خلاب و بساطة الوسائد الأحاديّة اللون و كذلك السجادّة يجعلان هذا السوزاني المتميّز هو محوّر الإهتمام
I have fallen in love with the colours of this Suzani – the charming blue and the simplicity of the block coloured cushions and carpet make this unique Suzani the centre of attention.
أين البداية؟ الفراش الخشبي المحفور بتفاصيل بسيطة و غنيّة في نفس الوقت أم الوسائد من الأكلمة القديمة أم الكليم – الذي يبدو لي مغربي – أم غطاء السرير المطّرز؟ هل نسيت أن أذكر زخارف الحائط الأصفر و التي يرجع صداها المعدني الأصفر؟ آه و تلك النخلة التي تدخل روح الطبيعة علي الغرفة
Where is the beginning? Is it the wood carved bed with its simple yet rich details or the cushions from old kileems or the kileem – that appears Moroccan to me – or the embroidered bedspread? Have I forgotten the patterned yellow wall which resonates with the yellow metal chair? Oh, not to mention that palm leaf that brings the spirit of nature into this room.
لا شيء يجذبني إلي مكان مثل تلك العناصر التي تحدثني بأناس سافروا إلي أماكن بعيدة أو قرىبة، و تشكلوا بأسفارهم و غدت منازلهم تعكس هذه الهويّة المتحولّة و ربما توارثوا هذه التذكارات من جيل لأخر فغدت منازلهم تتحدث عن تواصل الأجيال
Nothing attracts me more to a place than those elements that tell me of people who have travelled far or near, have been shaped by their travels and their home became a reflection of that transformed identity. Theses elements may have been passed on from generation to another making their homes speak of the continuity of generations.
